Academy Award-nominee Sally Hawkins stars in the true story of Maud Lewis who overcame juvenile rheumatoid arthritis to become one of Canada’s premier folk artists. Reclusive Everett Lewis (Ethan Hawke) hires the fragile yet determined Maudie to be his housekeeper and unexpectedly, they find themselves falling in love. The film charts Everett’s efforts to protect himself from being hurt, Maudie’s deep and abiding love for this difficult man, and her surprising rise to fame.
