This year marks the third iteration of ROOTED Contemporary Dance here in Wakefield. Since 2014, ROOTED has provided a platform for local live dance. This year’s performance, entitled the idea of the north (created by Dennis Bass & Jordan Samonas) features live dancers and musicians from Wakefield & Ottawa. the idea of the north is based on a movement towards a state of wonder - a way of living and being characterized by self-awareness, instinctive movement, connectivity and pleasure in effort. This year’s performance also features Something’s Laughing, a structured improvisation piece created by Owen Tuf and danced by the Wakefield Danse Collectif.
As a community-based initiative, ROOTED is devoted to expressing our local character through art and music. We cherish contributions from local dancers and musicians, willing to give themselves on-stage and in rehearsal. Your support is fundamental to this event’s existence.
Thank you for supporting the artists of ROOTED Contemporary Dance.
We acknowledge, recognize, and respect that we live, work, learn and play within the traditional unceeded, unsurrendered territory of the Anishinaabe Algonquin People.
